Age discrimination in our P.C. society? Surely not!
Here is a sad message received from Linda J., a Hastings reader of HawkesBayNZ.net. Linda does not say where she is situated but if you think you might be able to help, we do have her email address so please contact us.
"I am a married woman, who is only working part time but would prefer full time as we are struggling to make ends meet, but because I’m married I do not qualify for assistance from WINZ.
I Have spent the last two years applying for jobs, and am getting sick and tired of getting emails saying "I’m sorry but your application has been unsuccessful" the Government keeps telling us their are jobs out there and there should be no need for such a high unemployment rate, well where are the jobs, I am 57yrs old and I am not old, I am still quite capable to work, infact I can work longer and harder than some of our teenagers, I am tired of being told "your age is against you". I want to know why when someone wants a job they are continuously told there isn't one for you.
All I want to do is WORK; I am not old enough to put out to pasture yet, so for god’s sake why aren't I allowed to."
