Beautiful daffodils, of every variety, are available for picking, with proceeds to Plunket Society.

The daffodils at Taniwha are a truly awesome sight with the stunning backdrop of the snow covered Ruahine Range at this time of the year.

TVNZ brings their Pub Politics Show to Napier

Back Benches, New Zealand's one and only pub politics show, hits the road and heads to the beach every week over summer. On Sunday the 24th Jan the show descends on the Gin Trap in Ahuriri, Napier.

The Back Benches Summer Tour sees Wallace Chapman and guests head to the regions, starting at the birthplace of politics - and New Zealand's first licensed pub - in Russell, and winding down through Mangawhai, Coromandel, Tauranga, Gisborne, and Napier over December and January.

Each show will be an opportunity to get out and meet the locals, and bring the Back Benches brand of live pub politics to some of the best summer spots in the country.

The team will be discussing the big events of the past year, looking forward to 2010, and highlighting important local issues in each stop. Along the way they will meet local MPs, the local mayor, and colourful personalities at each stop.

Enliven Age Concern Community Cafe

The Community Cafe located at the St Marks Anglican Presbyterian Church in Takapau, is a cafe for people over the age of 65. The cafe opens at 10.00am and runs till approximately 1pm. Guests are welcome to call in for a cuppa and biscuit, or stay for a delicious two course lunch for $7.50, and enjoy a tai chi session for $4, whatever is their choice . The Community Cafe is held once a month, usually on the 1st. Friday of the month starting on February 5th. The cafe is a lot of fun with mystery outings and great company. Won't you join us?
