The Wikileaks Phenomenon

This is a new and very interesting phenomenon on the internet. Here is the web site of an organistation determined to expose the hypocrisy, corruption and war mongering activities of those who would shroud what they do in cloak & dagger secrecy. Although apolitical, I find myself experiencing a measure of sympathy and a wee adrenalin thrill as I see the global authorities failing in their attempts to shut WikiLeaks down. They now have the support of somewhere around 700 mirror sites and the number keeps growing. They can be rached on http://213.251.145.96.
Is this a dangerous thing, this much freedom on the internet? I would venture a cautionary "no, it is not dangerous" as I don't think that anything really sinister would achieve the global support that the WikiLeaks phenomenon has done. It is quite reassuring that appreciable power continues to reside in the hands of us ordinary mortals.
Go WikiLeaks!

Apart from exposing some of the international political hypocracy, Wikileaks has probably astounded the world by exposing how lax the security systems of the worlds major powers are.
The so called sex charges against the leading light of Wikileaks are being said by official spokespeople to have nothing to do with politics.
That could well be, but one can still wonder how fair will the court hearing be if it happens at all, and how come bail was denied when so many serious criminals get bail almost of right?
Britain knows how political this matter has become and the world will be watching how the extradition and subsequent court cases are delt with, with a microscopic eye.
